Listen to me when I say the following statement about single life: Do not consume alcohol every day just to end up hungover the next morning.
I repeat: Do not intoxicate yourself every day just to battle the repercussions the following day.
This is not the way a single life should be (though many men would disagree with me if they could).
Single life is more than this, guys. Single life is about finding yourself, building your personality, and experiencing situations all on your own. I know what you’re thinking, “Wow, this person writing this article is definitely a chick.” And you’re right in thinking that. However, I do have to admit I have some pretty solid advice when it comes to this topic. I could say that I’ve learned the lessons I’m about to teach you through personal experience (except the whole facial hair thing), but we both know if I say that you’ll just exit your browser and insist on never taking advice from a girl again.
Instead, I’m going to skip ahead to the facts:
- The best part about being single is that you don’t have to answer to anyone but yourself.
- The second best part about being single is that you can do anything you want with your spare time.
In knowing these two facts, I want you to think about one thing. Are you spending your free time binge-watching your favorite television shows while having the local pizza guy deliver food to your house? In other words, are you being lazy instead of living your best single life?
Well, if you are, stop. Look at the suggestions I’ve laid out for you below and start taking advantage of the time you have left to be single because trust me, it doesn’t last forever.
Let’s see what your single life has in store for you below!
Travel alone
That’s right. Every single man should travel alone at least once in their lives.
What’s the best part about traveling alone when you’re single? The fact that you can choose any place on this planet to go to. I mean, if you’re into hanging around the beach all day, you can go somewhere tropical. If you’re into exploring historical/artsy places, you can travel to Europe. The list is endless.
There’s a bonus, too. Traveling alone allows you to clear your mind and get to know yourself a little better. It’s like a type of therapy for the soul, yet it’s also extremely delightful.
If you do choose to go this route, be sure to break out of your comfort zone a few times throughout the trip. Talking to the locals or your fellow tourists will give you a more fulfilling experience.
Run a marathon
Preparing to run a marathon is a huge commitment and it’s so much easier to do so while you’re single. I mean, think about it for a second. If you do this while you’re single, you won’t have to wake your significant other up early in the morning with your alarm and you won’t have to trouble anyone with your specific dietary needs, either.
I understand what you may be thinking: You may want your significant other by your side when you finish the race. This is highly likely, but it is not necessary.
If you’re in a relationship and your partner accepts your commitment to the marathon, so be it. I’m just letting you know that preparing for and running one is ten times easier while you’re single.
Try a different facial hair look
Women have a tendency to be comfortable with certain facial hair looks while in a relationship. Some women like beards, others like mustaches, and still others like a clean baby face. That’s why it’s so hard to try out the facial hair looks you want to try out while you have a girl on your arm.
While you’re single, try out every facial hair look you ever thought you’d look good with. Try growing the hair out, try focusing on growing hair on different areas of the face, and try shaving your entire face (if you haven’t seen your bare face in years). Try it all. That way you’ll settle your curiosity.
Change your wardrobe a little bit
In addition to switching up your facial hair look, you should also shake up your wardrobe a tad. Now’s the time to switch the style up. Instead of going to the same store every single time you want to buy clothes, branch out and try something different.
Think about it this way: Your wardrobe should mature just as you do. In other words, if you’ve been shopping at the same store for the past 10 years, it’s time for an upgrade.
Additionally, try different styles out. Go for preppy one day and then try bold and mysterious the next. You never know what your next look will look like.
Become a wine connoisseur
Learn as much as you can about the white, red, and rose wines. Trust me when I say, it’s worth your time.
When it comes to social events, you’ll be able to bring a casual bottle of wine to lighten the mood. When it comes to romantic events, you’ll be able to bring a tasty bottle of wine to set the mood and release tensions. When it comes to professional events, you’ll be able to bring an elegant bottle to impress the bosses and/or enjoy the time away from work.
One thing to keep in mind when bringing wine to different occasions is that you should never go cheap with the wine (unless it’s only to quench your own thirst, in that case, bring whatever your heart desires).
Well, those are the basics to living a man’s single life. There’s totally a ton more suggestions I have in mind, but I’ll save those for a later time.
